Before getting started it is important to learn exactly what the company does and what the website is intended for. Are they trying to sell something? What are they trying to sell? Who are they trying to sell to? Or are they trying to build an online entity? How do they bring business their way? These are questions that you need to ask yourself and your client before developing a website. Your research is the most effective way to make sure a website is successful, and the best way to do that is to analyze the competition. See what colors competitors are using on their websites and notice the content that is being utilized. Ask your client who their biggest competitor and “out-design” their website. If you spend the time to build their website better than their competitor’s their website will be mor successful in the long run.

There is a lot of advice that I could give on the subject but I’d like to keep this brief and let you come up with your own method of research—since my way of doing business may not necessarily work for you. Another option is to talk to the competitor’s customers. Talking to their customers of your competitor is the best way to learn where you can improve your business and also get newer clients in the process. There are plenty of public filings about larger corporations, study those and learn from it. It’s a great way to learn more about the products you sell by seeing how others sell their products. Going to networking groups and trade shows is also a wonderful way to study competition and build a successful online business, while also promoting your own business

Writing quality content for your website

A.J. This is a very complex and growing industry and so many people think that Internet Marketing is hard and they usually quit shortly after they get started. I’m going to reveal to you another one of my secrets: Quality content will bring quality traffic to your website. This is true for both SEO Marketing and PPC Marketing.

I’m sure that you’ve joined this course to learn web design concepts, but I’m here to tell you that the best web design in the world has very little to do with having a successful money making website-and if your website isn’t making money for you, what’s the point of having one?

You need to write as much content as possible for your website if you want to get high enough traffic to you convert leads. Recently I had a discussion with a colleague of mine, who wanted to make money from Google AdSense, but was averaging around $8 per year in advertising revenue. He had an absolutely amazing web site that in my opinion had the potential for many great things, but he was unable convert any leads because he wasn’t able to secure enough hits to make that possible. For the next few months, he wrote one article per day and added it his website and it made a huge impact in his amount of traffic. Along with several of the other tools I provided him, he’s able to meet his goals.

I’d like to encourage you to make a promise to yourself to stick into this for the long haul. I know a lot of people who are able to instantly make profits off of their websites immediately after they launch it (sometimes just an hour after they go live). I’m not promising these results because they are rare-and it sometimes takes Google several months to recognize that you’re relevant enough to secure the amount of traffic you’re looking for.

No matter how you intend to bring traffic to your website-whether it’s through your personal blog or a catalogue of articles-make sure that your content is of the highest quality, well written, and full of keywords people are searching for. If you choose the right niche, you can brings thousands of people to your website through one article alone!

In my course, I teach you how to do this in detail and balance an SEO campaign with other forms of advertising-while teaching you to design high quality websites for your business. Just remember, stick to your plan!

You have a website idea, can you market it?

A.J. It’s actually one of the biggest mistakes people make in business-that their idea is so magnificent everyone is going to want to buy it, when in fact nobody will ever care about the website you’re trying to develop.

This is where you need to draw the line on whether it’s worth it or not. If you want to design a website for your company, but have no way or reason to market it, perhaps you should keep the website small and not put very much effort into it. Designing a website that is intended to get no traffic is a complete waste of time, and this is what most web designers are going to talk you into doing. After all, why spend money designing a website that nobody is ever going to visit?

If web design is something that you’re genuinely interested in learning, the first thing that you need to realize is that it is not a computer skill; it’s a marketing skill. Sure, there are many computer skills that you are about to learn, like writing HTML and coding CSS, but they are minor lessons in the marketing world. There are way too many great website ideas on the internet, but most people are unable market them properly so they slowly turn into somebody’s weekend hobby and never see the potential that the developer original strived for.

Let me reveal to you one of the biggest mistakes people make when putting together a website: They decide to build a website that “everybody” can find interest in. The Internet today is full of these websites and none of them have any type of relevancy to them whatsoever. If you want to succeed, you need to target a small sample of people. We call this niche marketing and it is the best way to get genuinely interested people to your website. For example, don’t design a website for those who are interested in sports. Instead, design a website for women who love basketball. People will be more interested in what you have to say when you are targeting a niche market.

When designing a website, try to focus on solving somebody’s problem-rather than trying to make some kind of money off of them or give them useless content. People respond very well when they feel that they’re not being heavily marketed to and are getting answers to their important questions.

Before you get started designing a website, it is a good idea to do research on whether people are actually searching for the content that you are writing. You can do this by using going to several comparable websites and seeing how their content is laid out. Google is one of the best tools to find out if your topic is popular. Remember, competition is a really good thing! It means that the idea you are about to put together is working for someone!
