Research is essential to building any business and when you’re building a website for someone, you’re essentially building their business for them. Before getting started it is important to learn exactly what the company does and what the website is intended for. Are they trying to sell something? What are they trying to sell? Who are they trying to sell to? Or are they trying to build an online entity? How do they bring business their way? These are questions that you need to ask yourself and your client before developing a website. Your research is the most effective way to make sure a website is successful, and the best way to do that is to analyze the competition. See what colors competitors are using on their websites and notice the content that is being utilized. Ask your client who their biggest competitor and “out-design” their website. If you spend the time to build their website better than their competitor’s their website will be mor successful in the long run. (more…)
