Obstacles Are Only Illusions

I’ve been on this amazing spiritual journey for the past eight weeks. It’s sorta like a shamanic journey, but the lessons and aha moments have been so life altering. I’ve been able to remove anger from my body. I learned how to manage my emotions better. My clairaudience and clairvoyance have really opened up for me. I’ve become a lot more powerful and a lot more whole. There’s one thing I’ve really been focusing on recently—it’s the topic of illusions.

Have you ever seen the movie The Matrix, with Keanu Reeves? Everything his character thought was real was actually an illusion. It’s an excellent metaphor for metaphysics. None of this is really real. It feels like it’s real, but we’re only here for a short time and then we die and according to my belief system—reincarnate. There are certain lessons we’re here to learn and certain events that play out to help us  learn those lessons.

When we recognize this is all just an illusion, that our existence goes on after we die, we’re able to see that the things that upset us in our life really don’t matter in the end. One spiritual practice you can start doing right now is ask yourself “Is what I’m saying really true, or is it just an illusion?”—It’ll change your life!

Recently, I asked my guides “Why are these obstacles showing up for me?” The answer I received back was this:

“You don’t have obstacles. You only have a perception of them.

That created a huge shift in my life. It’s so true. When you really start to look at your life from the perspective of you being the powerful creator of your own experience, you realize that obstacles actually don’t exist at all. Sure, you can encounter what seems like an obstacle in your life, but you can also make new choices! Obstacles exist as a spiritual teacher. They teach us to try things differently. When we make new choices, the obstacles go away and in return you can create newer experiences.

Here’s the cool side effect of looking at life’s problems as a perception of an obstacle—you immediately position your consciousness to a place of empowerment. You know when obstacles show up, you just have to make new choices or push through them. When your intention is powerful enough, you’re unstoppable!

I really want to challenge you this week. What is showing up in your life as an obstacle? Can you position your consciousness to a place where you can see it instead as a perceived obstacle and then create new choices for yourself? Leave a comment bellow, I’d love to hear your thoughts!

P.S. I wanted to let you know that I’m going to be doing a Google Hangout with my friend Jennifer Sanders November 12th at 1pm EST. We’re talking Tarot and doing some readings. It should be fun. If you wanna join in, CLICK HERE.

  1. This is pretty awesome. I LOVE this. I met a man the other day who talked about how he chooses to have a good day, instead of letting his days happen to him. He talked about removing people from his life who didn’t contribute to what he wanted out of his relationships.

I think I’ll definitely start looking at things as perceptions.

At work, I realized that I tend to see people as one dimensional (because I don’t know them) which is why I love gossip so much. Gossip, to me, brings a multidimensionality to a person (or a problem) that isn’t always apparent. It helps dissolve a lot of the initial bright eyed-bushy tail-ness I’m very prone to.

Anyway – great post as always!!

    • OMG, I LOVE that Tatiana. You set the intention, you make the choices. If there are people creating a misalignment to that intention, give them the boot. Thanks for the great comment!

  2. AWESOME post AJ! I actually needed this. Had a conversation just last night and wrote to my guides asking why so many doors keep slamming in my face recently. I need to dust myself off and start finding ways around them! :)

    • Shirley! YES, time to open some new doors (and maybe some windows too). :)

  3. Thanks AJ. Synchronicity is happening again. This is the exact thing I needed to be reminded of today. Also is reminds me of John Lennon’s song “Watching the Wheels.” In the song he says “Well I tell them there’s no problem, only solutions.” :)

    • Yay!!! Thanks Carolyn.

  4. I got a lesson in perception from my bipolar mother. I noticed that as her brain shifted into depression or up into mania, the way she perceived the world changed. When she shifted up into mania, her perceptions twisted until she became delusional and then paranoid.

I realized that perception is everything.

Even though my blocks are indeed perceived, I’m still working on how to communicate to whatever part of me sees them as very real, that they are not real. Sometimes it’s a big challenge- especially when I’m dealing with unconscious beliefs.

    • Thanks for sharing! What a lesson she can teach you! Even though that relationship must have been very hard, it’s so awesome that you can see it as a learning experience. She must have made a soul contract to teach perception to everyone around her and I bet in return, she got to learn about it too.

  5. They are our learning blocks, there to teach us and further evolve us to a greater good, many say that our last phase of evolution would be Christ/Buddha like.

    • I love that :)

      • My boyfriend and I are meeting with a medium soon. His father has passed and we are both very fearful we could open a door to be approached by spirits easier. Does it work that way? The medium also said my house is hectic with static and said I need to get white candles and mentioned blessing my home. Should I ignore all this & close the door? She also said she only deals with white & God.. I’m just clueless yet interested.

        Thank you in advance!

        • You know, I think it really just depends. Anything can happen in a reading! I say just set that intention that you don’t want to communicate with that spirit.
